For those of you who are unaware, the Office Quebecois de la langue Anglaise (OQLA) is a non-profit organization that serves the English-speaking community of Quebec in an effort to preserve and promote the English language and English identity.

We target corporations in Quebec that refuse or neglect to display any product information, safety instructions, advertising or promotions, menus, etc. in English, despite being allowed to do so by law. These corporations completely disregard the nearly one million Anglophone Quebecers who pay taxes and who provide them with a big portion of their revenue. As a result, these companies are contributing to the gradual disappearance of the English language in Quebec, which is currently a very serious issue.

Our website, oqla.ca, has undergone serious changes and is now fully functioning and accessible. We urge you all to go onto the website to learn more about our cause and objectives, and hopefully, to get more involved.

We have hired two full-time summer volunteers to continue with our mission, to preserve and promote the English language in Quebec. Having contributed to our online transformation, the volunteers will now be dedicating their time to contacting corporations who continue to neglect the English language through their signs, advertisements and displays, and thereby contributing to the extinction of our English language and English identity.

As the OQLA continues to fight for our language rights, we need all of you to help. Besides registering to become members on our website, we urge you to promote the organization and its cause to others who are not aware or involved. As well, please frequent our website in order to become informed of recent news and progress. Lastly, in order for us to best serve you and the entire English-speaking community, we need you to report any corporations or stores that are taking their Anglophone customers for granted. Please post your observations on the discussion forum/blog page of our website so that we can attempt to rectify the issue.

We urge you all to go onto the website to learn more about our cause and objectives, sign petitions, and hopefully, to get more involved
